Nuplex Resins, Bergen op Zoom (NL), announces a price increase ranging for Coating Resins sold in
Europe, the Middle East and Africa, to be effective February 26, 2007.
Recent crude oil price movements have helped ease some of the relentless pressure we have had on
our raw material cost base over the last year and hopefully move the industry into a period of stabilizing
raw material costs.
However there are a number feedstocks such as methanol and butanol that remain at very high cost
levels in spite of lower crude pricing. These high feedstock costs combined with tight market supply of
key downstream resin raw materials lead us to the conclusion that 2007 will still be a year of stubbornly
high resin raw material costs.
In order to restore margins which have considerably been eroded over the last year in 2006, Nuplex
Resins EMEA has decided to announce additional price increases, effective by February 26 next.
These further price increases are unavoidable to restore sustainability for Nuplex Resins and to support
further investments and innovation in VOC compliant technologies.
